Virtual Reality with Magnetic Skin Sensor

Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research(IFW) and Johannes Kepler University Lin(JKU) have developed a magnetic sensor which is extremely thin and can be worn on the skin. People are very familiar with “augmented reality”: a computer-generated virtual reality with the success of Pokémon Go game. The electronic magnetic sensor will enable touchless manipulation of both physical and virtual objects.

At first glance, the glossy little gold bracelets looked like a modern tattoo. But in this very thin and invisible like foil that sticks to the palm like a second skin. The magnetic fields provide a feeling of “Sixth sense” with the help of sensors. These sensors enable people to access not only the physical world but also merely embedded with emotions, such as how a smartphone and control day to day objects.

For the first time, physicist and his team –  Prof. Oliver G. Schmidt at IFW Dresden and Prof. Martin Kaltenbrunner in the Soft Electronics Laboratory at JKU Linz -demonstrated that the magnetic field sensors can identify and process body movement in a room with a stable magnet. “Our electronic skin traces the movement of a hand, for example, by changing its position with respect to the external magnetic field of a permanent magnet,” explains Cañón Bermúdez of HZDR, the lead author of the study. “This not only means that we can digitize its rotations and translate them to the virtual world but also even influence objects there.” Using this technique, the researchers managed to control a virtual light bulb on a computer screen in a touchless way.

Tesla Roadster into the space with most powerful rocket

Elon Musk the CEO of Space X is planning to launch the world’s most powerful rocket by the end of this month. Falcon Heavy was successfully launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Falcon Heavy will be carrying Elon Mask’s electric car Tesla Roadster.

Falcon Heavy will be tested on 27 engines. There are three recyclable sections which help Falcon Heavy to return to earth after its use. The launch and shutdown will be testing the technology expense of Space X.

The 2500 tons of 18 Boeing 747s will be burned during the launch of this huge rocket. The Falcon Heavy has a capacity to expose 63,500 kilograms of cargo from the earth. Elon Musk founded Space X in 2002. The company’s major missions are aimed at the cost-effective space carriers. This test is the biggest mission of Space X.

Last month, a picture of the Elon Musk’s 2008 model Tesla Roadster’s car revealed in the rocket. Elon Musk also revealed the reason for the inclusion of this extraordinary commodity in the rocket. Usually, the concrete or the rolling boats will be used as a burden during the test flight. Elon Musk says that he decided to leave his personally attached thing with the rocket.

If all goes well, the Falcon Heavy will fly from the earth. Two mission-packed rockets will be rolled back to Earth before the spacecraft outer space. The rockets are planned to return to Cape cannon after its mission. A part of the car will be separated from the main part of the rocket and returned to Earth. Elon Musk’s car will be returned in a deserted part of Pacific Ocean.

The scientists are waiting for the launch of the world’s most powerful rocket for testing and unprecedented retreats.

Scientists discover giant burrowing bat fossils in New Zealand

The researchers have found giant burrowing bat fossils in the South Island of New Zealand on Thursday that lived millions of years ago. The researchers belonging to the University of South Whales and the international scientists found the bones as well teeth of the extinct bat. The fossil remains of the burrowing bat reveal that it was thrice the size of an average bat and could walk on all the four legs.

The fossil remains of the bat, found in St Bathans in South Island’s Central Otago, are said to be dated back to an estimated period of 16 to 19 million years old. The study is published in the journal Scientific Reports.
The fossils of the burrowing bat weigh about 40 grams and make it the biggest burrowing bat which has been discovered to date. The findings reveal that the peculiar bats did not fly and walked on all four legs while searching for animal food or plants hidden under the tree branches or leaves. The name given to the giant burrowing bat is Vulcanops jennyworthyae, derived from the research team member Jenny Worthy who discovered the fossils and the Roman god of fire and volcano.

The burrowing bats are closely related to the South American bats. The burrowing bats found in New Zealand have a varied diet, including invertebrates like spiders and some other insects. The giant teeth of the Vulcanops jennyworthyae suggest that its diet was different and included more of vertebrates and plants.
Paul Scofield, the co-author of the study and a senior curator of natural history at the Canterbury Museum, said that the South American relatives of these bats lived alongside the iconic species in New Zealand like Moas, Kiwi and Tuataras. But on the other side, these species evolved in a way more complex community.

For survival, the Vulcanops jennyworthyae consumed of spiders, insects and weta as well. A weta dominates the territory of New Zealand and is a common name given to 70 different species. The bats utilised their big sized teeth to consume both plant material and smaller version of vertebrates which is similar to its modern cousins in South America. But still, the bats dominating Australia do not have the same diet.

The cooling and drying trend of New Zealand for an extended period of time could have caused the extinction of many bat species thriving in this area, leaving just two species in the modern fauna of New Zealand. Thus, the humans introduced some other varieties of bats in this area to increase the diversity. And now, the latest study shows on the prehistoric burrowing bat gives evidence that a wide diversity of bat species lived in the Gondwana supercontinent many years ago.

The researchers from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and Adelaide, Australia conducted a study and have discovered that infertile couples can now have a child by using freezing embryos. According to the study, frozen embryos used during in vitro fertilization (IVF) give a similar result like the use of fresh embryos.

The study is published in journal The New England Journal of Medicine. The researchers found a higher chance of having a child by using fresh embryos during in vitro fertilization. And when the result of this study was compared, the results showed that pregnancy and live births rates were similar in a group of in vitro fertilization women implanted with frozen embryos compared with fresh embryos.

The researchers conducted the study by selecting 800 infertile women, not related to polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). As per results, about 36 percent the women who completed the first cycle of IVF got pregnant by frozen embryos techniques while in the fresh embryo group, the figure was 32 percent.

Dr Lan N. Vuong, from the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Vietnam and the lead author of the study stated that the frozen embryo techniques are now growing rapidly in fertility clinics all across the globe. The research is thus very important for fertility clinicians and researchers and for those couples who are hoping to have a child.

Professor Ben Mol, from the University of Adelaide’s Robinson Research Institute, said that this new study shows that the infertile women not related to PCOS have similar live IVF birth rates from frozen embryos technique. This is important news for the infertile women across the globe, he further said.

Dr Vuong said the results are based on a particular freezing method called Cryotech vitrification, and there are low chances that the method will work with all embryo freezing methods or not. So the researchers will compare the pregnancy chances and live birth rates of this method with other freezing embryos techniques. Besides this, the method is considered to be one of the most effective, easiest and safest method of preserving oocytes and embryos.

However, the researchers say that in case of a large population, this method may not be effective to increase the chance of live birth like fresh embryos. Thus, the researchers are now conducting the further study so that it can be used in all fertile clinics worldwide as infertility is one of the major issues in the world.

Bus falls from bridge in Rajasthan’s Sawai Madhopur: 33 killed

The early morning light in Rajasthan’s Sawai Madhopur dawned an ill-fate for the passengers of a private bus. The 34-seater bus was carrying passengers as it lost balance while passing through a 100-foot bridge over the Banas River. The bridge is located in the Malarna Dungar area of Rajasthan. The bus followed its usual route starting from Lalsot in Dausa to the final destination at Ramdevji. Total 33 dead bodies have been fished out of the river while the bus was pulled out via a crane.

At 7:30am in the morning, the driver tried to overtake another vehicle and fell down into the river. The cause of accident hasn’t been determined as of now and the same shall be revealed only after a through enquiry. As of now, the prime reason for the accident has been speculated to be the untrained minor driver. A few hours following the incident, all the dead bodies that totalled 33 in number were taken out from the bus. This was done by cutting the windows of the bus by the use of a gas cutter. The dead bodies were sent to the mortuary in the district hospital.

Out of the 33 bodies found, eighteen have been identified. Fifteen of these belonged from Sawai Madhopur with 1 from Dausa and another 2 from Uttar Pradesh. Ten of these bodies have already been handed over to the families after the post mortem was completed. Kailash Chand Verma, District Collector said,” Ambulances were called in to rush the injured and bodies to hospitals.” He reached the spot along with the superintendent of police to make sure the rescue operation was carried out smoothly. An alert was initiated to inform every private hospital to admit the people injured in the incident. The locals also participated in the search and rescue operation for the passengers.

Many politicians along with Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the accident. CM Vasundhara Raje expedited the process to ensure a speedy rescue by talking to the officials assigned to the task. To ensure the incident doesn’t reoccur in the future, BJP MLA from the Sawai Madhopur area Diya Kumari said that the single bridge will be constructed as a double one. She also ensured that the guilty shall be punished accordingly.

The Ramdevra temple in Rajasthan welcomes numerous pilgrims visiting from Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh every Saturday and Tuesday. The buses going to this temple follow the route through the bridge where the accident took place.

690 million years after the Big Bang, Astronomers spot monstrous black hole


A current research finds that scientists had discovered the oldest supermassive black hole ever seen that grew to 800 million times the volume of the sun when the universe was just 5% of its current age. The enormous black hole, which looked only 690 million years after the Big Bang, could one day help release light on a number of universal mysteries, such as how black holes could have reached gargantuan sizes immediately after the Big Bang and how the world got cleared of the dark fog that once filled the entire galaxy, the researchers stated in the latest study.

The earlier research proposed these titans deliver vast amounts of light when they shred apart stars and gorge matter, and likely are the driving force behind quasars, which are among the brightest objects in the cosmos. Astronomers can discover quasars from the faraway corners of the galaxy, creating quasars among the farthest objects known. The quasars are also the earliest known quasars the more distant one is, the more time its light took to reach Earth.

ULAS J1120+0641 set the previous record for the earliest, most distant quasar. Because quasars shine so brightly, we can spot farther ones. That is a kinda helpful trick, given that much of the universe’s first history is shrouded in the puzzle. A quasar, bright as it is, could scatter light on that crucial period of reionization.

The problem is that quasars are quite rare. Cosmologists expect there to be around 20 to 100 quasars of similar illumination and distance as J1342+0928. That makes finding a distant quasar, whose light has been stretched into longer, redder wavelengths by the accelerating expansion of the universe, an even more difficult task.

To find such objects, an astronomer would have to sift through a haystack of data, looking for the glint of a cosmic needle. That’s precisely what Bañados and his colleagues did, using computers to sort through reams of public data sets in search of the reddened signature of a distant quasar. Finally, he found J1342+0928. The scientists studied the hydrogen around the quasar and found that roughly half of it was still neutral and half of it had been ionized. That meant that the process of reionization, at least in this corner of the universe, was well underway at this point.

NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope, set to launch in 2019, would also help probe these early years in the universe’s history.

Juno clicks Mesmerizing pic of Jovian clouds on Jupiter

The US Space firm NASA has issued an image of blue cloud creations on Jupiter taken by the JunoCam imaging instrument onboard the Juno spacecraft. The image was obtained from a distance of 18,906 kilometres above the cloud tops of the gas giant. The area captured by the image is in the northern hemisphere of the Jupiter. Due to the angle of the Sun concerning the planet, some of the clouds in the higher altitudes can be viewed casting shadows on the lower clouds. The image was captured on 24 October. With many turning points scoring its one-year-long journey in Jupiter’s orbit, Juno has transformed the world’s opinion and understanding of the gas giant.

In another significant image released by NASA, Jupiter can be seen showing off its Jovian clouds in striking shades of blue. Juno’s primary goal is to understand the creation and evolution of the gas giant. Beneath its dense cloud cover, Jupiter safeguards mysteries to the underlying processes and circumstances that governed our solar system during its creation. As our prime example of a giant planet, Jupiter can also provide significant knowledge for understanding the planetary systems being detected around other stars.

With its suite of science tools, Juno will examine the existence of a solid planetary core, map Jupiter’s powerful magnetic field, measure the volume of water and ammonia in the dark atmosphere, and inspect the planet’s auroras.

Juno will let us take a tremendous step forward in our understanding of how giant planets form and the role these giants played in putting together the rest of the solar system.
Juno obtained this image when the spacecraft was only 18,906 kilometres from the tops of Jupiter’s clouds. The colour-enhanced photograph, which occupies a cloud system in Jupiter’s northern hemisphere, was taken on October 24, 2017, at 10:24 am PDT when Juno was at a latitude of 57.57 degrees and performing its ninth close flyby of the gas giant planet.

According to NASA, because of the Juno-Jupiter-Sun angle when the probe captured this picture, the higher-altitude clouds can be observed casting shadows on their surroundings.
The behaviour is most readily noticeable in the whitest regions in the image, but also in a few hidden spots in both the bottom and right areas of the image.

Scientists Gerald Eichstädt and Seán Doran processed this image using data from the JunoCam imager.

JunoCam is a color, visible-light camera designed to capture remarkable pictures of Jupiter’s poles and cloud tops. As Juno’s eyes, it will provide a wide view, helping to provide context for the spacecraft’s other instruments. JunoCam was included on the spacecraft specifically for purposes of public engagement; although its images will be helpful to the science team, it is not considered one of the mission’s science instruments.

The Juno spacecraft launched on Aug. 5, 2011, from Cape Canaveral, Florida, and arrived at Jupiter on July 4, 2016. During its mission of exploration, Juno soars low over the planet’s cloud tops — as close as about 2,600 miles (4,100 kilometers). During these flybys, Juno will probe beneath the obscuring cloud cover of Jupiter and study its auroras to learn more about the planet’s origins, structure, atmosphere and magnetosphere.

Juno’s name comes from Roman mythology. The mythical god Jupiter drew a veil of clouds around himself to hide his mischief, and his wife — the goddess Juno — was able to peer through the clouds and reveal Jupiter’s true nature.

JPL manages the Juno mission for the principal investigator, Scott Bolton, of Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio. Juno is part of NASA’s New Frontiers Program, which is managed at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, for NASA’s Science Mission Directorate. Lockheed Martin Space Systems, Denver, built the spacecraft. Caltech in Pasadena, California, manages JPL for NASA.

Gandhinagar/30-November-2017 (News release India) : Gujarat Police has filed a case against PASS leader Hardik Patel and his six team members against in charge of  peace disturbance and breaking the law by holding a rally at Mansa despite not being given permission.

The divisional Superintendent of Police (DSP), Gandhinagar,  Virendra Singh Yadav told the media that the police have filed charges against PASS conveyor Hardik Patel along with Dharmesh Patel, the proprietor of Umiya decorators who was the organizer of the rally at Mansa, and five others for holding the rally despite the district administration not giving them permission. The law be acting against the persons involved in the violation of law.

The police has filed charges against all these patidar leaders under the Indian Penal Code clause 188, for disobeying the administrative order of maintaining peace and law.

The Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) leader has been holding protest rallies across the state for the past two years for giving reservation for patidar community under OBC section, including every place where he did a rally without authority permission.

The PAAS group also had convened a mega rally on Saturday at Mansa.

Mansa is the native village of BJP national president Amit Shah, as part of a series of protest rallies against the state’s ruling BJP. Before the rally, Hardik Patel had indicated he would reveal some secrets of BJP that will shook it. Although, he failed to do so.

A  Political observer has said that police action will only come after the elections are over. The state BJP government cannot dare to lay their hands on Hardik, as it would adversely affect them in the elections in next month. The police also had confirmed that it will take neseccary action after election.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) is also observing the speeches of Hardik Patel and also video recording his public meetings. The reason behind this is to prevent any kind of violation of rules from his side.

Ahmedabad/22-November-2017 (News release India) : Former big face of Congress and now fighting alone, Kshatriya face, Shankersinh Vaghela on Wednesday said his fledgling ‘Jan Vikalp Front’, would carve out special 10 percent quota for the most backward classes from within the 27 percent reservation meant for the OBCs and his party will also stop implementation of the GST for a year.

Shankarsinh, earlier in July left the Congress to form his own front to sustain in election. Vaghela has released its manifesto for the upcoming Assembly polls that also promised unemployment allowance for educated youth, reduction in VAT on petrol and diesel and a secondary school in each village.

He said that the total 74 candidates of his front for the first phase of Assembly poll scheduled for 9 December. Voting will be held in 89 of the state’s 182 constituencies that day.

He also claimed that the backward communities in the 10 percent category would include Koli, Thakor, Bajaniya, Yogi Raval, Devipujak, Madari and Vagher, among others.

In his press conference he said that there are most backward communities among OBCs who have been deprived of 27 percent reservation benefits given to OBCs in the state. If brought to power, we will carve out a special 10 percent category out of 27 percent for these communities.

He also added that the Koli-Thakor Development Board will be scrapped and a new Koli-Thakor Development Corporation created in its place. The front government would set aside Rs 1,000 crore for the corporation every year.

Vaghela further included the newly floated outfit would defer implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) for a year and fight for excluding necessary items like food, clothes and houses from its ambit.

The veteran politician, who has been both with the BJP and the Congress during his career, said the front will not field candidates against four senior leaders of the two parties. These are: Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, state BJP president Jitu Vaghani, Congress’ national spokesman Shaktisinh Gohil and MLA Paresh Dhanani.

Two PAAS members  — Lalit Vasoya and Amit Thummar -found their names in the list released on Sunday, even as the Hardik Patel-led organisation had demanded 20 seats from the congress then and then PAAS will support congress in election.

Although, one of the patidar candidates has decided to not fill the nomination form as in protest which could be turn out as a big fallout for congress who were trying to pull Patidar community in his division.

On the other hand vasoya filed his nomination on Monday from Dhoraji seat on the Congress’ ticket. Which was later opposed by PAAS conveyor Hardik Patel succeeding cancellation of rally in rajkot where he was about to show support congress.

Earlier, Congress had released its first list of 77 candidates, yesterday, in which apart from two PAAS members, over 20 other Patel candidates were given tickets. In protest some PAAS members pelted stones on congress office in surat.

Dharmik Malviya, conveyor of Surat city wing of PAAS said that his community members have not been given proper representation in the list that has been declared by the congress. They will not allow any Congress office to function in the state.

PAAS convener of Ahmedabad,  Dinesh Bhambhani along with his supporters created ruckus at the house of state Congress president Bharatsinh Solanki.

He said that  Congress has given tickets to two of PAAS members without taking their leaders into confidence. Other Patel candidates who they have selected are bogus. We will hold a massive protest against the party.

However, the state congress offices had to take help from local police protection. Earlier, the meeting was held between PAAS leader Hardik Patel and Bharat Solanki that congress will give tickets to 20 PASS leaders and PAAS will support congress in upcoming local assembly election.

BENGALURU /7-November-2017 (News release India):  Paytm founder and CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma yesterday has announced that Paytm is allocating a $1-billion investment to ramp up its payments business as it looks to build a financial services platform, Sharma also cleared that this allocation doesn’t include the company’s investment plans for its recently separated e-commerce entity.

Paytm, one of the prominent beneficiaries of the government’s demonetisation implied an year ago. Paytm got increment in it’s total number of user under banner of “No Cash” banner.

As the regulations around digital wallets are slated to change with the recent Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines, Paytm will now give users to transaction option without having to use its e-wallet and instead of making payments using the BHIM UPI tech on its platform.

The Reserve Bank of India recently put out new guidelines saying that mobile wallet players to only have know your customer- (KYC-) compliant users. According to market analysts, these accounts have very less KYC- compliant users.

Paytm, supported by Alibaba and SoftBank, will put the huge investment across the core businesses of transactions, travel, hotels and gold sales, among others. A big part of this investment would be focused on selling financial products and consumer credit through “Paytm Mall”.

Sharma also said that they were looking at a three-pronged strategy to double the number of users in the coming year by converting Paytm users to its payments bank, tap into non-wallet users through UPI and sell financial products by the next year.

Sharma also said that long ago, they realised that standalone payments as a business is an orphan and thus they are building a bouquet of products.

Paytm recently launched a chat service on its platform that Sharma indicated is aimed at making payments further seamless

He added that Paytm wants to be a one-stop avenue for transaction-related businesses, much like China’s WeChat. Paytm has raised $1.4 billion from SoftBank in starting of this year Before that Alibaba has backed the company, the company has been making investments in its new businesses and making acquisitions at the same time.
